Cock a Doodle Day!
I woke up this morning on the wrong side of the bed. I have a few things pressing, and I felt my negativity gnawing at me like a scavenger, licking it's lips in anticipation of a self pity feast. In our prayerbook, there are a number of blessings that are said every morning upon rising. We first give thanks and appreciation for a brand new day and our health, and subsequently say fifteen consecutive blessings for a variety of other critical human functions and needs. The firs

Dive In!
I was just sent an adorable video by a long time family friend, a relatively recent PIP (a Cutting Edge Platform Individual Partner), who in a very short period of time has already catapulted herself to a Prime Partnership level. It was a video of her son, on a glorious California summer afternoon, diving off a springboard into a glistening pool, swimming with confident strokes to his instructor. “Never thought I’d see this a year ago. A miracle!” she texted. I did not know w

Don’t Dis-Dress!
I was once again reminded this week of the immense nuclear power of kindness. My wife was contacted on WhatsApp by a friend, whom she had not seen or heard from since they had been college roommates, studying abroad many years prior. It was the day after the Jewish Festival of Shavuot and she had somehow tracked down her contact information because she wanted to share a personal anecdote. Apparently, she had once borrowed a new dress from my wife, for an off campus weekend ex

Number 2 Ain't Shit
Forgive my words. I’m a native Aussie, and I sometimes like to indulge in the odd bout of colorful language. We swear differently Down Under. It’s less angry and unlike in the US, it is considered largely inoffensive. There is a certain playful naturalness to the Aussie curse word, and it’s often utilized in common vernacular. I was recently connected to a young and brilliant Korean born, Los Angeles based, healthcare executive. He had, over an already illustrious career, led

Are you a Hor, or a Vert?
“I just don’t understand you!”, I spluttered in exasperation I was recently in Melbourne, Australia, my childhood home town, with my wife and kids, visiting with family over the Passover holiday, after a long three year hiatus, due to Covid restrictions. The object of my frustration was a dear uncle of mine, who I love to engage in conversation with during my intermittent visits. He is a brilliant legal mind, widely considered to be the premier tax attorney in the country. In

Mission Possible
A talented entrepreneur recently engaged with BMG Advisors for strategic support on developing and scaling her business. As we reviewed her progress, achievements and setbacks and conducted a SWOT analysis of the enterprise, her recent struggles came to light. She was misaligned with one of her co-founder partners, employee morale was deflated, customer acquisition had slowed and profits were sliding in the wrong direction. “I’m lost” she ruefully lamented, on the verge of te

Exit Strategy
I sat on an Advisory call yesterday, with the Founder of a Company who is a Platform Partner of mine. At a lull in our conversation, I asked him what his exit strategy was. He seemed offended by my question, so I rephrased. “Are you growing your business with your exit in mind?” He looked at me incredulously and turned his iPad screen that depicted his last months financials to me and sat back with a contented smirk on his face. “Exit! I’m never gonna sell this company. It’s
