Cock-a-Doodle Courage

I was in a coaching session this morning with an industry professional I’d only briefly met years ago and recently reconnected with.
After I commented on her newly dyed red hair—a bold move since our last meeting just a couple of weeks ago—we dove right into the work.
She told me:
“I’ve incorporated. I’m working on my mission, values, and business model. I understand my exit strategy and financial model, and… I’m shitting myself.”
We spoke about fear, anxiety, and the paralysis that often follows long-considered but long-postponed professional change. She had finally made the decision to self-determine. But now she wanted to know: how do I get over the hump?
I told her: “The fear, the anxiety, the indecision—they’re not signs of weakness. They’re the normal, healthy companions of meaningful change. These are big shifts, but they’re aligned with your best self. And soon you’ll see the tangible rewards of self-determination—with clarity and appreciation.”
She nodded, then sighed. “But I get strong, and then a new day starts—and I feel like I have to start the process all over again.”
So I sent her something I’d written years ago, called Cock-a-Doodle Day. A short post. About a rooster. About the daily courage to begin again.
Here’s the link:
She loved it.
She’s since taken on a Hachlata Tova—a sacred resolution—to use the rooster’s call as a daily meditation. A reminder that choice is personal. It belongs to no one else. And it can’t be outsourced.
Wishing you blessings this Festival of Freedom.
